Program History

The Information Technology Department began as the Network Administration Program at Blinn College in the Fall of 1996. The program was originally housed at the "Post Office Annex" of Blinn College's Bryan branch. The program was relocated to the Townshire Building in January of 1997 and relocated again to the main Bryan campus in August 2000.

A second full-time instructor was added to the program for the Fall 2000 semester. In December 2003 the program was the first at Blinn College to receive the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board's Excellence Award. Some of the program courses were designated as Service Learning eligible in 2006.

Course content, course offerings and program content are constantly being updated in order to present the latest in computer and network technology. This table shows the course history.

A majority of our graduates are employed by small and medium sized companies. This requires a very broad knowledge of the network computing environment. One former student commented: "I used every course I took in the first six months after graduation."
